Question about my Install THINK

Putting a few things in my car, when the weather finally gets nice! God...

Anyways, I have a quick question about my install. I will be putting two head units in the Doule DIN location. Now, each one of these needs power / ground / remote turn-on. Is it ok to connect all this in the same locations? Meaning, twist the two power wires together from the head units and then connect them to the power wire from the car? And do this for ground and remote turn-on?!

Thanks
Derek

Guess my THINK didn't work!

ONE more question. Is there a huge difference between 4v and 2v preouts? Is there any difference in the sound quality? or just the amount of current that makes it to your amplifier?!

More voltage usually gives a cleaner signal to the amp, especially at low listening levels. This cleaner sound is in terms of signal integrity VS noise. (S/N ratio)

Most single amp systems can manage a 2 volt load fine, but that 2 volt output is not reached until the HU volume is upwards of 50-60% of max.

With a 4 volt output, you reach a higher RCA output voltage at lower HU volume levels and have more voltage to run a 2nd amp as well.

There are other items that can be added to give additional flexibilty and more input voltage to multi-amp systems. Mainly Active EQ and/or Line Driver preamps.

yes you can hook them both up to the same pwr source. There should be no problem there.

There can be a big difference between the 2v and 4v output. Obviously you are feeding your amp 2-times as much juice to begin with. This allows the noise that the signal will undoubtedly pick up be very small in comparison. So at the amp you will have more signal being amplified, and less noise...

OK. Thanks for the information. I wasn't sure if connecting power cables from head units would cause any kind of problems, and I didn't want to melt my alpine!

I have an active crossover, Coustic 3-way. This will be a part of my system, will this take the 2v from the headunit and create a 4v?

it depends on the model. Some eq's/x-overs have a built in line driver, some do not. check your manual.
