Hi folks first timer post here ....I need help connecting power my sony cdx ca720x....the wires colors on the cd r as follows.
red=12v accesory
yellow=constant 12v
orange/white=illumination
Now on my camaro I got no plug its been cut, i got
yellow=power on the volt meter
blk= ground
gray=?
do i hook the yellow from the car to the red or yellow on the cd? also do i hook up the illumination up to the yellow power wire too............man what a headache...any help and i'll buy ya a beer if i ever see ya...HAPPY

1981 camaro, wires chopped out.......trying to figure it out...cant get power to the (&^%%%# thing.

there well be an ilumination wire on the cd player if not just cap that wire off. the wire in the car that reads 12 volt when car is off or on you well hook to the 12volt on the stereo. and then there should be a wire in the car that only read 12volt when ignition is on this well hook to the accessor/ignition wire on the stereo. then ground to ground. then speakers should be left they are usuakly the same color as in 2 greens 2 reds, etc.... to find out which 2 go to what speaker simply take a 9 volt battery and touch it to the wires the speaker those wires go to well crackle then hook those wire to corosponding stereo wires. this should get you everything you need tog et started on this project. this is an older car so if anything i said doesnt match the car let us know and we well go from there.

Thanx fer the reply there uochronos. There is a orange/white illumination wire on the cd, what do i hook it too, i have a yellow in the car thats hot when ya turn the key,but thats the only power i got.i can only find 1 power on the car .So here's what I'll try to hook up.
car cd player
yellow wire to red[accessory12v]
to yellow[const. 12v]
to orange [illumination]
I know whats for the speakers,found a ground, but i still dont know what to do with the orange,and yellow wires on the cd....put the orange with the yellow too........I'm gonna go have a look.....gotta go drop the kid off in kindergarden...be back

got it.......hook the red and yellow from the cd together,connect to the acc yellow in the car...then hook up the orange illumination wire to a dash light......and we got beats
