Hi, I'm new to this car audio stuff and I'm learning a lot just by reading. I am planing on replacing the factory Hu and speakers on my 1989 Chevy Suburban. After 14 years it has finally given out. I wanted to add a little bass for better sound quality but I didn't really wanted to give up a lot of cargo room for a sub box. Would this give me the extra sound quality I'm after or just be a waste of money? Would 10" sub in a closed box and modest amp be a better use of the money and just use the space? Anyone have experience/opinions on the SVR303?

Have you considered the Infinity Bass Link system as well. This is a 200 watt, 10" sub and passive radiator design. This nets good SPL, above average SQ in a very compact enclosure.
They have 2 models and Crutch and Sounddomain carry them for $299.00. If you shopped this hard off ebay or other web sites, you may find a better price... but not a better performer in this size package.

PS From my research, this is a 7", DVC self powered sub. The amp delivers 64 watts RMS (120 watts peak) The prices I saw range from under $150.00 - 249.00. The infinity Basslink would be a tad larger, but superior in performance to the Clarion noted.
