I've been looking at this one as it's a Pro Line sub from Parts Express:

http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=299-750

JBL SUB1500 15" SUBWOOFER $249.00
4 OHM
Part Number 299-750

No expense was spared in the design of this transducer, which explains why it was used in subwoofers that sold for over $4000! The radiating diaphragm is an extremely rigid Kevlar impregnated paper cone attached to a medium-roll butyl rubber surround. This is driven via a huge 4" diameter voice coil built with flat edge-wound copper wire, achieving a one-way Xmax of 18 mm! A complete set of shorting rings in the motor system reduces distortion levels dramatically, even at high excursion levels. With over 25 lbs. of metal in the motor structure, 5 ounces of copper in the voice coil, a vented magnetic gap, vented cone, and venting under the spider, this driver will handle as much power as you can give it!

Built to legendary JBL standards, this unit has all of the design features that you would ever want on a subwoofer driver: huge Xmax, colossal power handling, and extremely low distortion. Since this is the last inventory of these drivers in the world, don't miss your chance to own the best!

Specifications:

*Power handling: 800 watts RMS/1500 watts max
*VCdia: 4" *L1k: 1.55 mH *Impedance: 4 ohms *Re: 2.90 ohms *Frequency range: 25-500 Hz *Fs: 25 Hz *SPL: 92 dB 2.83V/1m *Vas: 4.52 cu. ft. *Qms: 4.90 *Qes: .34 *Qts: .32 *Xmax: 18 mm *Dimensions: Overall Diameter: 15-1/4", Cutout Diameter: 14", Mounting Depth: 7".

It may not have the power handling watts you have in mind, but the large X-max (18mm oneway) will really move air. But with a 4" voice coil, it can move heat away quickly. If that amp has adequate power at 4 ohm loads.... this might be of interest to you.

that does look impressive and a good spl sub but i want one that well be completly amazing and the amp is 1200watts at 4 ohms.... and this sub needs to handle 1200watts in a ported box.like i said sq isnt important really for this sub as i well be getting my ED 12A for a daily driver and it has 22mm xmax btw. thanks though swez but i think in a ported box like i want i would kill that sub

There are alot of things to consider here. Alot of really high spl applications require alot of power and alot of airspace.

one sub worth looking into is the Adire Brahma. It is Dual 2ohm, so it would be a perfect match for that amp, (1200watts @ 4ohms). Also, it can take 1600RMS, but depending on the enclosure, you can get full output with considerably less power.

some other brands to consider are Orion h2s, RE, and DD

the adire brahma isnt that an SQ/SPL sub? and enclosure size isnt an issue i could make u;p to a 4cu. ft. box a bit more plus port.. i have no idea abbout orions i looked at them but seem again to be a mix sub not totaly for spl performance. RE interets me but i have no knowledge of them. and i dont know what DD is. the brahamas do seem like a good pick but they seem expensive and look expensive to repair. audiobahns higher end spl subs seem to have great excursion and be built to be repaired.

hey. i was considering getting the linear compression audiobahns for a while. i've become sold on the kicker lately though, especially after seeing that they managed to get one of their 8 in. square subs to hit 147 dB!!!!!! anyways, you might want to check out their L7 series, or the new Solo X's. they have excellent customer support. i'm giving them the dimensions in the back of car, along with what type of performance i'm looking for, and they're designing a custom box for me for free! just a thought...

DD stands for Digital desisgns. One of the most proven and most preferd spl subs on the planet.

The 9900 series 10, 12, 15 & 17 inch drivers are limited production, state of the art drivers for the most demanding users. These drivers are built without compromise, without time or cost constraints in order to meet the most stringent audio demands. Versions of these woofers have been optimized for use in high-end home audio to ultra high power competition use. These drivers are equally at home pounding out bass lines on the street, setting spl records around the world or capping off the ultimate home theater system.

The basis for the 9900's ability to serve a wide variety of audio applications is the state of the art cone technology. These cones are painstakingly assembled by hand and baked under vacuum for 24 hours. This high tech sandwich cone uses twin kevlar skins, a high strength foam core and light weight aerospace epoxy. The strength to weight ratio of this sandwich technique is unsurpassed. These cones are stronger and lighter than the conventional nomex composites molded at low temperatures. Our cones share the same materials and processes used to build formula 1 cars and spacecrafts, proven technology when performance is all that matters.

The 9900 uses our most powerful motor design to date. These new motors are not only significantly stronger than any past motor, they are also 20% lighter. At DD, we have complete control over our metal production. We buy the finest steel and machine it ourselves, enabling continuous R&D. This has led to these newest motor designs incorporating more energy and more cooling in a compact and lighter package.

Finally, 9900 subs are built the same way as a balanced and blueprinted high performance engine. All tolerances are shimmed out, all surfaces machined, every production step quality controlled to ensure the highest quality assembly. These are limited production subs in every sense of the word. 9900 subs are meant for the most discriminating buyers, and for those who just like really cool stuff.
