my 8 ga. power wire originally had a 40 amp fuse in it, it broke, so i had to replace it, all i had on hand at the time was a 30 amp fuse, my amp has two 25 amp fuses in it, since my power wire is has only a 30 amp fuse in it, is it by any chance cutting down on the power to my amp? Replies (2) ttocs on 05/2/2004 18:36:44 it is not cutting pwr down until it blows, and it will probably blow. Keep it in there until ya get another, or blow it. swez on 05/2/2004 18:56:27 You are right at the edge of #8 gage wire current range. If your power wire is <10' long... good enough. But if 15' or longer, plan on upgrading to #2 gage power line ASAP. If amp draws slightly more than 30A., for a few seconds, the fuse should hold. If a heavy, sustained load of >30A., the fuse will blow. Get some 40A fuses soon and just go easy on your subs. Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
