if any of you find a decent truck box enclosure that is sealed with anywhere from .80 to 1.0 cu. feet and will fit an alpine type R in it, please let me know. I think the mounting depth on the Type R's are almost 7 inches (like 6.8 i think).------------(And One last question for swez or someone who knows about boxes.)------the sub enclosure range for a sealed box for an Alpine Type R is .7 to 1 cu. foot, would i be ok puttting it in a 1.25 cu foot enclosure since that is the only box i can find that will fit it?THINK Replies (3) uochronos on 05/1/2004 05:18:43 the larger theb box you put it in the more likly you are to over power the sub.... but the box should be 1cu. ft. after the subs dipalcement. and if i remember right my alpine type r 10's displace around .15 -.25 i dont remember exact numbers. so this 1.25 box should be realativly close. as always though a custom box built for the truck and for the sub well net you better sound. but a 1.25 sealed box should be ok. i belive my alpines have 1.5cu. ft. per sub but i also slightly under power them. but i get a very deep boomy bass from this... most people think i have 2 12's or 15's but they are only my little 10's cplkittle on 05/1/2004 07:53:52 that's right.. too big of a box will not maintain the back pressure needed to prevent the sub from reaching overexcursion. If this is the only box you can find, styrofoam blocks will do to fill up some of the excess space. swez on 05/1/2004 08:51:59 Ditto, you can add internal mass to the box to make it sonically smaller. Something made of a dense material that will fill to about .20cf should be fine. Even if you used the box you have now as is, it will work and deliver a lot more deep lows too. Just listen carefully to the sub, for un-natural sounding mechanical noises. If you hear cone whop or slap, dial back on the power to the sub. Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
