I have an ongoing problem with the speakers in my 1996 Camry. I have a Panasonic deck that I just installed a few months ago. The CD player has been fully functional except for the fact that it sometimes does not give off any sound to the speakers . Thus far during two seperate occasions my speakers have "given out" for periods between 4 days and now this second time going on a week. My subwoofers are operating fine, my wiring *seems* fine all around the car. There is absolutely no noises coming from the speakers until I raise the volume as high as it can go. At this point theres some crackling and static noise which seems to occur at random and/or when wires are jiggled. I can also notice the music playing *extremely* faintly once the volume is all the way up. At this point I'm wondering if there is some sort of problem with wires touching (which i cannot visibly notice) or just a defect in the cd player itself. If anyone can offer any words or wisdom or advice it would be greatly appreciated. If you have an ohm meter and know how to use it this is the time to grab it. If you don't then there are two things you can do. First, just look at the speakers. Sometimes the tinsel leads(small metal wires going into the speaker from the terminals) will touch and cause a short. If you don't see anything there, then try disconnecting one speaker at a time until the rest come on. If you disconnect the speaker and still no sound then reconnect that speaker, and try another. Easiest place to do this is behind the deck. Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
