Hey i was wondering if someone could give me an idea of how much it would cost to install the system i want in my car. i know im not going to be able to get and exact numbers, just a good estimation would be fine. as for what i want installed im palling on getting all JL. for my speakers in the front in getting JL Audio VR650-CS 6.5inch in the front, JL Audio VR650-CX 6.5inch in the rear, and for an amp i use JL Audio 300-4. for the sub im getting one JL Audio 10W6v2 in the H.O. wedge enclosure and run it on the JL Audio 500-1 amp. Also i already have a Panasonic CQ-DFX983U HU in my car. Im planning on getting this stuff off of onlinecarseteo.com because i can get pretty good prices on everything so would the shop installing it normaly charge me more because im not buying from them? thanks Replies (7) uochronos on 04/26/2004 02:30:34 well ttocs and cpkittle could probaly tell you more. but from my experience it would be around 30-60$ for the door speakers around 100$ for amps and subs.. plus lets figure 50-80$ to run new speaker wire back to your amp from your 4 speakers. then i would say up to 100$ in parts (speaker wire, terminals, etc.) also matter how nice you want it to look the 2 places i go to have stuff installed when i dont want to do it myself do an excelent job and make it look really nice mount everything down and so forth. it cost me 100$ to have an amp installed but it looked nice and still works to this day. now my friend had close tot he same amp installed by another place got it done for like 40$ but the amp wasnt m,ounted down at all and the wire running threw the firewall was touching the metal and it wasx sharp and started cutting threw the insulation on the wire. and the ground they had was to the floor pan in the trunk but they didnt even sand the paint away. so really it matter where you go and how porfessional you want it to look as for the price. like i said ttocs and cpkittle well be able to give you alot better idea but this is a rough look at what you well be expecting. ttocs on 04/26/2004 15:21:44 I would not imagine it would be less then $300-400, but depending on the area could be alot higher.... cplkittle on 04/26/2004 15:54:27 I doubt you will get charged more, they should have a standard install fee for the speakers, amps, and so forth. This is what we charge for standard installation of the items you listed... door speakers....$45 (seperate tweeters and xovers-add $40) amp for front speakers $85 amp for subwoofer $65 anchor sub box in trunk and mount amp to it $25 these are BASIC prices anytime something has to be cut or fit you can look at adding around $20 per item And like ttocs said, it depends on the area as well. If you go to a mom and pop type store you can talk them down on the prices a little if you are getting everything done at once. ttocs on 04/26/2004 18:38:15 I saw an invioce for a car we were doing at the shop I used to work part time for. For a deck, 4 speakers and an amp they got $1100 labor alone, mind you it was in a 911 carrera 4............ uochronos on 04/26/2004 22:25:03 also some cars are harder for installs in my truck it costs around 40$ for speaker install but in my ford probe gt it cost 90 for the rear speakers because of how much of a pain it is to remove the rear pannels if ttocs or kittle have done one of these they understadn the grief involved in it. i dont know about subarus though they look easy just a thought though cplkittle on 04/27/2004 09:10:59 The 911s are difficult to work in.. we did an eclipse reciever/CD/screen in one.. had to take out the passenger seat to mount the external reciever and amplifier under it where the old telephone box was. ('86 porsche 911) and the speakers in th back glass are a pain too.. have to use a phillips tip and a crescent wrench to get to the back screws. ttocs on 04/27/2004 11:26:12 yup, been there done that......
