Thanks Walter.
I am glad you thought the article was relevant.
I feel that there are people that have little or no experience with power tools and I think it is a good addition to the articles.

Thanks Again,

Mike SMILE

you are most definitly right about the power tools.......we wouldn't want someone missing a finger because of a skill saw accident-table saw actually......like my buddy.....just "oops-grrrraaannnnnkkkk...........AHHHHHHH!" and thats not joking about the sound effects either.

I nipped the edge of my thumb on the table saw years ago.. a little to the left and I wouldn't have it anymore

never cut myself but i have had a boar come up on me off a table saw and hit me before and thats no fun at all and it never accured to me at the time that a piece of mdf could fly like that when it hits the table saw blade.

I cut a corner off of a piece of mdf one time and had turned the saw off and was just about to start to walk away when I heard something fly by my ear, then I heard the 6ft flourescent light above me explode, of course then followed by the sound of glass all over the floor. Everything happened in the matter of a split second and I was left standing in the exact same position next to the saw with my eyes closed. The corner missed my by jsut inches and hit the light.

Everyone else there was really confused as I never really moved before the light exploded.

I too have been the victim of several close calls.
In my teens I worked for a local prefabricated home builder.Iwas comfortable with most power tools including a circular saw.One afternoon,on one of those cold, windy, blustery days ,I was cutting ridgecap pieces and got lazy.I was 5/8" plywood and the boss was barking orders so I turned the saw off to listen but when I started the saw again It got in a bind, flew the length of the cut(about 10") straight at me.I couldnt get out of the way in time.I was wearing Carhart coveralls and the saw had lost just enough momentum that it bound up in the heavy fabric of the coveralls.

I was extremely lucky or blessed that it wasnt worse.
If you have ever noticed on a carpentry crew there is usually 1 guy missing a finger.
Judging from the resposes so far from ttocs, uochronos, and Tinker18 they have seen the dangers.
I really wrote this article so for others that are less experienced in hopes that they would not be that 1 guy on the carpentry crew.
Thanks for the comments guys on a subject that often times is assumed but should be discussed, especially with the rookies.

Mike
