I got 2 12" Infinity reference subs running of a JBL 600.1 amp. Sounds great no complains but I was wondering if there were any bass tubes that can produce a similar sound run by the 600.1 you guys can reccommend. reason why i might change to a bass tube is because I'm trying to make my car lighter. I been racing lately and I still want to keep the sounds just want to decrease the weight. Please help. I bought this system with you guys help and it worked my system is booming, now im just curious if you guys have better ideas than bass tubes. thanks Replies (1) uochronos on 04/23/2004 14:32:07 i dont know how much less your car is going to wiegh with a bass tube? its going to be bassicaly the same wieght i would think if its 2 speakers in a turb or one that can handle 600rms..you could just remove the sub box ebfore going out raceing and have it in the rest of the time. in my old car i had everything quick released so when i went to the drag strip i was lighter... honestly though removeing the subs and box for a tube is going to maybe get you 40 pounds lighter thats aroudn a 1 usable horse power gain. not really something you would notice even. there are heavier things to replace... hood, stock seats(these can way around 80 pounds each mine where electric and wieged almost 100 eahc, can switch these out for ones that wiegh 20 each), spare tire and jack, and many other things that wiegh way mroe then your going to gain by switching to a tube.
