Can 1 amp do all?

I have an Orion HCCA225 from an old system I used to use for front stage only. I just got a Honda Civic that I'm looking to put a little system in but was wondering if I have to go out and buy a second amp since this one is capable of down to 1/2 ohm loads anyway. Is it possible to run both front stage and subs from one amp with the use of passive crossovers as with component sets? If so, what's the pros & cons?

Yes it is possible if the amp is tri-way capable. The subs will have to be of a higher ohm load than a normal bridged setup. However there is less control as passives has to used on both highs and subs. This can create a problem sometimes in volume threshold and fading. Since everything will run off one amp fine tuning will be to a minimum. Yet, that is not to say that there has not been any successful setups, just that the speaker and amp matching has to be more precise to get a good one.
