I wanted to get a couple capacitors to help run two 12" image dynamics IDmax V3 D4 and a tru tech SH1 hammer amp. any suggestions? I've heard a yellow top optima will also help but is that enough for such a large amount of wattage?

Before you go buy capaciters for your system, do some much better upgrades first. Upgrade your battery to the biggest most powerful battery that will fit in your cars battery box, I like Optima because of there technology and they are long lasting, but they are a tad expensive, sometimes you need to spend a little more for the good things though. Next, what is the output on your alternater, if possible, upgrade your alternater. You will need to uprade the size on the alt. Upgrade your cars ground from batt to chassis. Start there first if you still have problems with you system drawing too much power then we will go from there.

How much current does that amp draw at full power? You can get a rough estimate by adding up the fuses in the casing. Based on that, then we need to look at your ALT output capacity and battery CCA rating.

In most cases, if you have a low output ALT (say 75A or less) upgrading the battery to a higher CCA # will help. In this vehicle, a stock battery might be 500-600 CCA rated. Installing a new one with 800 CCA or higher should help.

Next, upgrade your power wire from ALT/BAT to say #4 gage wire. Same with BAT/GND wire. If your car also has a grounding strap between engine block and chassis, add a 2nd strap.

If all these steps do not fully satisfy power needs, your final option is to upgrade the ALT to a higher output version. This can get pricey, so do the basics mentioned above first.

FYI: An 800 CCA rated battery has 2,000,000 times the storage capacity of a 1 Farad Cap. The money you'd spend on a larger cap would still not provide the reserve current of a larger battery.
