I have a 91 Eldorado and the used car dealer installed a Alpine 7179 before I bought the car. This is the kind of radio that pulls out of the dash. When I slide it back into the dash the sound levele is screwed up. It oplays fine sometime and other times it is real low on volume. I can jiggle the radio and the sound improves but now it is low all of the time. I am guessing the connector but I do not know what to look for. Alpine.com is of no help! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

if you pull the deck out on the back you will see a bunch of copper points that align with the sleeve to get the pwr into the radio, and the sound out. That deck is more then a few years old and the contacts are probably corroded. Carbon builds up after a few years. Take a pencil eraser and run the contacts to clean them. If need be do the same to the sleeve.
