Swez - System Question for Brand New Volvo S40!

All,
This is my first post as I just learned about this forum. I am just wondering what kind of subs, amp, you would get if you were going to create a new system.

I realize everyone is different, but that's kind of what I am looking for. I want to research different types of subs. I'm looking to spend NO more than $350 per sub.

As far as music goes, I like all types, but my favorites would be hip hop, and techno. Also, what kind of box should I get. I'd like to get 12" subs.

I am in the Air Force and live over in Germany. Over in Europe, there is a brand named "Emphaser." Has anyone of heard of them before? I listened them today at a local shop and they sounded great.

Everyone always talks about JL 12W6s, etc. I DON'T want to follow the crowd, and I don't want to pay for the name "JL Audio." Any ideas would be great, thank you and sorry for so long!

first time i heard about this brand but check it out www.emphaser.com looks good enough for me though.

JL 12w6 has high ratings for its performance from what i heard, but its quite expensive , let alone their amps hehe.

well, thats only from my point of view and i have much to learn about caraudios.

Goodluck with your Installs !

Yeah I know, I'm the same way. I've been reading about the emphasers although it's in German. I think I will end up getting them, I heard them in a shop today near base, and it sounded SO nice. I was really shocked...I'll keep you guys posted. I am thinking of installing my own system, but not to sure. I've done one install on my golf I drive now, that worked out nice...

There are many options available and depending on how much bass you want in your system, the sky is the limit.

One of the better deals I have run across in recent days are a pair of 12" Phoenix Gold subs, in a nice looking enclosure. Look here:

http://www.infinitecaraudio.com/cgi-bin/icastore.cgi?user_action=detail&catalogno=TX12Denclosed $200.00 for all plus S&H.

PG is high quality gear, takes the power and in this package, a very nice looking enclosure as well. This enclosure has a pair of Tantrum 12Xd subs. A pair of 4+4 DVC's, 350 RMS per sub. This unit is wired for a 4 ohm net load, but can be internall rewired for a 1 ohm load.
This is a sealed semi-wedge design enclosure and ~1.0 cf per sub internally.

As for amps to use with these subs... depends on how much bass engine you really want. A 300 RMS watts per sub amp is plenty. A Class D mono amp that can manage 1 ohm loads are hard to find. Most Class D MONO amps will do 2 ohms, but not 1 ohm.

The JBL BP600.1 will deliver 600 + watts (RMS) into a 1 ogm load. It will provide 300 RMS watts into a 4 ohm load. The best market prices on this amp are ~ $220.00. (e-bay, Ike Sound or Sounddomain) Nothing fancy about this amp... just raw bass power and Low pass filtering.

The best parts about this amp line are efficiency of 90%, 1 ohm stable and a very good price. You can beat this system hard and it will come back for more.
