Dear All First off a big hello to everyone as i have just joined. I wonder if you could help me with a problem I have on a Japanese imported Pajero, 2000 x reg DiD lwb which I only took delivery of on Friday. The problem is with the radio, basically it is a top of the range unit with a separate LCD screen, below it in a separate unit is the controls for the unit, (all buttons in Japanese) press one of the buttons on the top right of the unit and the front comes down to reveal a tape unit, under the dash is a separate mini disk player and under the passenger front seat is a cd/sat nay system... as you can appreciate I am reluctant to get rid of this set-up as it also controls the air conditioning and the compass and temp gauge as well as the TV and rear reversing camera, My problem is that apart from the radio buttons being in Japanese most of what is seen on the LCD screen is in Japanese as well. I do not have a manual for the Radio and don't even know what make it is, but what I need is a name of someone that maybe can convert this system to English. I was wondering if any of you have had similar problems and how they have overcome it or even if you could throw some light as to a maker of this radio. I would really be grateful for any help or advice you could give me. Thank you very much in advance for your time. Kind regards Martin Burlock Replies (2) swez on 04/5/2004 19:55:32 Hello and welcome Martin, That's a tough call since you do not have any manuals or a model number here for this system. Not only that, but probably all in Japanese anyway. I think you need an interpretor that can read Japanese (Konji), and then write out the HU functions and control buttons for you. If you live in an area where Japanese business people hang out, go to a quality Sushi bar or authentic Japanese restaurant... not Benihanna either. The realo thing! Ask around for some help as you enjoy the food. Who knows, you make make a few good friends in the process. This sould be easy for them as most Japanese people learn to read and write both English and Japanese. They may have difficulty speaking English, but they usually can read and write both well. Be sure to thank them profusely if they offer their assistance. Something like: Domo arrigatto, goz i- e - ma-shta Roughly translated... "Thank you so much, my new Japanese friend" Koo-nichi-wa, (Hello & good afternoon) Swez PS Boy, my Japanese is limited and a bit rusty... but either you will get some interesting looks, a few smiles or outright belly laughs to break the ice. Good luck! saintanddolphin on 04/6/2004 19:58:27 called mitsubishi usa and they ask you to call a local dealer with your specific model and vin#...1-800-mitsu2004 is usa number to find a dealer near you. mike COFFEE Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
