I just bought a new clarion head unit to install into a 1990 nissan pathfinder. i was told that the stereo may have a factory ampified stereo system, so i was told i will have to by-pass the amps. i wasnt sure if anyone has done a job like this... it will not be hard but i am not sure what to expect. Replies (3) ttocs on 04/3/2004 21:38:40 does it say "premium", or infinity er bose er something? If you are not planning on adding a sub you can wire into it, or bypass if you want... Should not be too bad, amp would be under pass seat or maybe in the dash. w_jrussell on 04/3/2004 22:37:19 i cant say that i have seen it to tell you the truth. it is a deck for the mother in law ( birthday present). when i bought the HU from A&B sound they told me that i should have it installed because of this amplified system. i told them i would do it myself, electronics is a part of my trade and i am sure i will manage. supposivly the amps are right at the source, one at each of the speakers; again i havnt looked. i know that all of the speakers are a regular 4 ohm impedance... so i am sure i can run right from the deck high outs to the speakers. bypassing any amps. the only thing i am unsre about is the tweeters. if i bypass the amps and just bridge the tweets to the front speakers then the system will sound like crap. any way i guess i will have to look and play. i dont think it will be a big deal. ttocs on 04/4/2004 12:36:04 Remove the factory radio and measure the impedence of the speakers. If you get 4 ohms there they wire as normal, there will be no problems. If you get something else then there is an amp and you might need to do more....
