Hello, Im new to this forum so if this topic is somewhere else, Sorry. I have Recently hooked up a new 4ch. amp to power my mids & highs and set up my pioneer 9300 head-unit. I have a couple MAJOR Problems, First my insurment panel lights are now ALWAYS on, Second my Parking lights wont come on, but my headlights do, The BIG ISSUE is my tail lights do not work at all...Except when my brake is pushed. I belive that these are serious electircal issues can some give me some insight, and possibly tell me " oh that not a big deal all you have to do is..." (hopefully) HAPPY Replies (11) jgarner on 04/3/2004 10:12:09 I have a 1998 honda Accord sedan, the amp is a pioneer 400w 4ch. swez on 04/3/2004 10:53:06 Not a huge problem... just wired the HU to wrong wires of the harness. May have blown a fuse or two as well. Did you use an OEM to Aftermarket wiring harness adapter kit? (I hope so... simplifies wiring a lot) Don't panic... we get this kind of stuff on a regular basis form Newbies. 1. Get out your install manual and review the wire color codes and where they should go 2. Need a voltmeter or 12 volt test light to probe stock wiring harness for proper wire connections 3. General HU wiring Guide: http://www.the12volt.com/request/request2.asp Red is +12 volts off ACC/IGN wire circuit or fuse box Black is body ground (bare metal ground please) Yellow is contant 12 volts for station memory & clock Blue/wt strip is REMote feed for amp turn on Solid Blue is power antenna activator Orange is illumination of face panel, connected to dimmer The paired wires are for speakers. If using an outboard amp, you will not plug these in to HU. Use RCA's to feed audio signal to amp. Then amp outputs to proper speakers. As for amp wiring, ground the amp to the floor pan. If you grounded it to a tail lamp ground... NO GOOD This may be affecting your tail light issues. Ttocs is our resident Install Pro. Let him add his thoughts before you dive in OK. Swez jgarner on 04/3/2004 10:59:35 Thanks for the info, About the harness thing, The car was broken into a while back before I owned it and the punk CUT the factory harness out to get the stereo quicker so I am working with the bare wires I do have a page I copied out of honda tech guide from the dealer with all the crazy color wires that are there before the missing harness jgarner on 04/3/2004 11:08:01 Ttocs what do you think? swez on 04/3/2004 13:13:00 That really sucks pizza through a small straw.... Yep, Hey Ttocs... can you lend a hand from your resources on this one? Factory wire codes for a 98 Honda Accord? I did the best I can for now... the rest is up to your skills and know how. Swez saintanddolphin on 04/3/2004 19:00:30 this is a link to a web site that offers factory replcement harness if the oem harness has been damaged(i.e. cut to steal radio.)check it out.it may be your best option if you want to keep factory hu harness.the harness is oem (original equipment manufactured) and is vehicle specific. http://www.autoleads.co.uk/harness_car.html mike COFFEE ttocs on 04/3/2004 21:35:57 sounds like you wired your illumination wire to the deck ground. This would probably be what blew the fuse that made the tail/parking lights stop working, and why your dash lights are always on. I would honestly recommend probably disconnecting the pwr wires from the radio one at a time and see when the dash lights shut off. unfortunatly the book I have does not list that wire color, possibly black with white.... Try grounding the radio directly to a metal part of the dash rather then at the hrns. ttocs on 04/3/2004 21:36:41 oh yea, check all your fuses both in the interior and the engine compartment. jgarner on 04/4/2004 17:36:38 I have checked every fuse and not 1 is blown.....? jgarner on 04/5/2004 21:46:11 Ok I have Looked and looked for anything out of place, I have left no stone unturned and still nothing ( I feel like im searching for Bin Laden) Checked fuse(s), Uninstalled, Reinstalled...Any othe suggestions will be MUCH APPRICIATED. Noid on 04/6/2004 15:01:13 Sounds like the same problem I came across when installing a Japan Model radio in a 2000 Montero Sport. Dome light flashers and clock or something wouldn't turn on. I took it to a shop where the charged me $40 to uninstall and reinstall the radio (nothing wrong exept the rear speakers where reverse... Left was right and vice versa) then $40 to replace a fuse under the hood. Double check the fuses under the hood. Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
