It will draw over 100A of current from the electricals just for the sub amp, when he cranks it up. In most cases, one needs to upgrade the BAT/ALT to a higher output system. In this case, 150A., plus from the ALT and a BAT that has >800 CCA rating. Installing larger power wires between AT/BAT, BAT/GND and doubling the ground from engine block to body are recommended. A #4 gage upgrade will help a lot here as stock wires are generally #8 or maybe #6 wires. As for power line/ground feeds to this amp. Need a #4 gage wiring kit minimum. If he even has a consideration to add a full range amp later for mids and highs, drop to a #2 gage kit and D-block. As for this stk alt, need to fiond out the output rating on same. A few calls to a dealer or a good autoparts store will tell you what options are common to this vehicle. If you do need to upgrade, a 150A., ALT is minimum I would recommend for this system. Check these guys out and see what they have avialable for this 940 Volvo. You may have to call or e-mail for information on higher output versions that will fit into stk location.
