I am wanting to get an upgrade for my speakers in my 03 cavvy. I have factory ones in now and they suck. the quality isn't that good and there is no bass.

i was wondering what i should get to increase the richness and quality of the sound and slightly up the bass. I don't want any fancy thing or thump thump going on, i just would like to increase the quality of my music in this car.

i know virtually nothing about stereos so any help will be greatly appreciated!

Do you know what size speakers arfe in there now and where are they located?

According to Crutchfield, the Coupe and Sedan use 4x6" speakers in front, 6x9's in rear.

Not much bass gonna come from these. Your only real bass will come from the 6x9's. Really depends on how much you wish to "invest" in the sound system you have planned. No sense buying high powered speakers and only run them off modest HU amps. If you elected to add a 4 channel amp for interior speakers... say 50 x 4 watts (RMS), that would make a dramatic impact on your system.

Also, if you only have the stock Delco system HU, this version lacks power too. Maybe 15 x 4 watts per channel. (RMS) The stock, speakers are pretty efficient, but they have very poor overall sonic range.

The other aspect here, adding a subwoofer and amp to give some real bass. Depending on how much bump you want and how much of a budget you have to work with, that will determin e what you get.

Just remember one thing...AVOID CHEAP AMPS AND SPEAKERS as they may look nice, price is good and the specs appear to be acceptable, you may wind up ripping out the cheap gear and buying what you wanted later... the good stuff. Now you have wasted money, rather than saved... in the long run.

Say more about your goals and budget estimates.
