I just recently purchased a boss audio equalizer AVA-1202 and i know i have to wire it to a 12 volt power source, a turn on lead and a ground. I was wondering if i could hook it up to the recievers 12 volt power lead the amp turn on and the ground of the recievers wiring harness Replies (2) cplkittle on 03/27/2004 08:10:54 If it is a passive EQ, it that will work fine. swez on 03/30/2004 11:41:12 Passive... meaning the EQ does not have internal amplifiers. Depends on fuse used and current draw. Most HU's are fused between 10-15A. A Passive EQ should be less than 7A. You can try tapping into the HU power wires and ground both HU & EQ to same body ground. If the radio fuse keeps blowing, will need to tap the hot line (+12 volts) EQ to another location off ACC/IGN line. But do use the same ground for both to prevent excess noise. The specs show VERY LITTLE DETAIL on this 7 band EQ. Have no idea what power consumption is or what the RCA output voltage range is on this brand. Cheap... but... Quality???
