what's up. i just bought a 1992 isuzu rodeo. i don't have the money to put in a great cd player right now so i am trying to put in an alpine cd player from around 1997 that i know for a fact works perfect. however, i tried to hook it up and it is not powering. i know it is wired right because i have hooked up many stereos before. i checked my radio fuse on the car and it is fine, and i know the ground is good, too. any help would be really appreciated!! -nick

Check for a reset button on this HU. Also, if theres a external fuse on the HU check that. If you have a multimeter you can check and see if the yellow (constant) wire is getting 12V or not. Did you use a wiring harness to hook the wires up or did you just splice/crimp the wires?

thanks for writing back. there is no reset button or external fuse on the HU, and there is no constant power to the HU. i called a local stereo place and they said to check for a fuse called "backup" or something under the hood, but i don't have one. and i used a wire harness. please help!! sucks with no stereo. -nick

check all the fuses... I normaly go down with a test light. You can simply touch it to the both metal sides and see if you get the same reading. The constant is normally ran through the cig lighter, dome light, ect. Do these work?

you could possibly have the wrong harness also.. try just wiring up the constant, switched, and ground to see if it powers up.

well, i unattached the cd player harness from the wiring harness and rewired it from the beginning, and now it works fine for some reason. i did however cut out a huge chunk of ground wire and manually grounded the cd player instead of through the harness. maybe my ground was too long?? thanks for all of your all's help. -NH

oh, I bet there was not a ground in the deck hrns. Izuzu likes to use a chassis ground with the ISO mount. alot of times that is the best way to trouble shoot a problem. Take it out and put it back in.....

glad it is working.
