Hello Car Audio Pros. I'm participating my first caraudio soundoff in july , i'm still considering of what audio equipments in my car are good enough to use for the soundoff... but right now, i have only 1 question to ask for the time being, i'm considering to get 2 12" type R OR 1 12" L7 for my deep bass. ( my budget is to buy subs this month)

thanx , comments are really appreciated

PS* I dont know if my current equipments are good enough for the soundoff, i'm using more than 3 brands

I personally like all of the alpine type r and s series. We have 61/2 type s two way speakers in our XM dispaly, and they are surprisingly deep for 6 1/2's they are very clean and produce a warm mids with good accuracy on the highs, yet not too overwhelming. The subs are a good buy for the price. If you are looking for SPL, the L7 will probably be your best bet though. Kicker also introduced the SOLO X in 10" and 12" sizes this year, a bit harsher on the wallet, but I assume they are worth it (haven't heard them yet).

If you elect to use the S12L7 Kicker, Ported, SPL/deep bass is your best option. This sub can manage 750 watts in that design enclosure and net highest SPL. Page 27 give enclosure build specs and dimensions for a 3.35 cf Ported box. A subsonic filter (25Hz) is highly recommended on this enclosure design.

To get the most from this design and sub, have to match the voice coil ohms rating to amp used. Is available in 2+2 (1 or 4 ohms) or 4+4 (2 or 8 ohms) DVC coils.

If you have a hatch back or fold down seats, this will net highest SPL performance. A sealed trunk will net lower SPL unless you make an air pass through vent to car interior cabin. Removing rear deck speakers will help for Competitions... then reinstall for every day driver.

If you elect to use dual Apline Type R's, sealed enclosure is recommended. But ported specs are noted on other web sites like www.crutchfield.com

http://ecominet2.alpine-usa.com/html/asb/owner/swr-1241d_om.pdf

Key Features:
KevlarŪ-infused pulp cone
1" Santoprene rubber surround
dual 2-ohm 2" voice coils (make sure your amplifier is compatible)
frequency response 24-1,000 Hz
power range 100-300 watts RMS (150 watts per voice coil)
peak power handling 1,000 watts
sensitivity 87 dB
top-mount depth 6-15/16"
sealed box volume: 0.7-1.0 cubic feet
ported box volume: 0.75-1.75 cubic feet
Recommended Box Type: 1, 2, 3
1-year warranty

These come in 2+2 or 4+4 DVC's, RMS power is 300 per sub. Depending on the amp you have, one version is more suited to your application.

The SWR series is an SPL/SQ sub. It can net high SPL numbers in ported applications, but better for a daily driver applications.

Now, what amp do you have here? Mono amp or 2 channel and what is RMS output ratings of same?

hello again, it has been a long time since i login into ck forum, i've been busy .

things have not been better for me these past few weeks and i am unable to participate the local soundoff in july due to my new job and budget.

anyway, all the money that i saved 3-4 months ago will go to my current daily driven car, Nissan sunny (sedan) that is.

My current caraudio equip..

HU - Alpine CDA- 7892E
Pre-amp - Cadence CEQ770
FrontMid - CDT
Rear - Cadence US 6k
4 gauge power cable
..cheap $10 Rca cables *cough, van den hul ? too expensive hehe

I'm planning to upgrade it by adding with a decent Amp from Audiobank. For my Mids, F45 - 75w (RMS)x 4 ch.
For my Subs, FM7- 550w (RMS) 1 ch.

i'm going to get 2 12" Nakamichi's sub (450 rms each)

and a Kole Audio 2.5 farad cap. for the extra juice

and thats about it.. suggestions ?
PS* I hope that with my new upgrade ,in term of quality and the Bump! it will beat the popular brands the local love to use to showoff such as sony's, audiobahns and the rockfords GRIN
