In a few weeks I'm buying my fathers Grand Prix gtp off him and he has the Bose sound system. I want to hook my amp and sub that I currently have now, but I do not want to remove the factory hu because it has an equilizer and steering wheel controls which i like and want to keep. So would it be possible to hook up a sub and keep all the factory speakers and head unit? the sub and amp I would be hooking up is a RF 201s Punch amp and a 12"Alpine typeS Sub. And just for curiosity, is their and head unit that would allow me to keep the steering wheel controls?? thanks, Murph Replies (3) compvr15s on 03/19/2004 09:26:27 there are items called line out converters(LOCs) they tie into the wires for the rear speakers. can get them at probably any car audio shop or online many places. im not too sure about using the steering controls for aftermarket units, i know some come with steering wheel controls but they are like clip ons, and the are infra red. there probably is a way to wire the control you have now, wait for one of the other golds to respond. you may want to think about just getin a diff head unit, i know of two people with newer grand prix gt and a gtp, not sure what year yours in but in both of thiers the cd players took a dump. they still play cds but within 10 minutes the cd player overheats, i never really pulled one out and checked it, maybe just sumting simple or maybe just bad head units. good luck. swez on 03/19/2004 09:26:50 I believe I read a post from ttocs that an Aftermarket HU can be used with steering wheel controls. Special harness needed though. Am sure Alpine of Pioneer can adapt to that. There is a Line out Converter that works with Bose systems.
