im wondering if any of you have any experience with eclipses and their stereo, im thinkin pretty hard about buyin one, one question is can i fit 2 15s in the hatch or will i have to drop back to 2 12s... im lookin for extreme bass, the system in my grand prix hits probably around 135 to 150, not too since i havnt had it tested, id like to just switch my subs to the eclipse and just drop to one kx600.1 instead of two since im sure the electrical system isnt too powerful. so far i have a pioneer premier deh 750mp head unit, 2 kicker kx compvr15s 2 kicker kx600.1 class d mono amps, alpine 3way 6x9s for the rear not sure what the stock is on the eclipse, a set of audiobahn comps upfront soon to swap out with some cdt audio comps. plus i have a seperate set of mb quart tweeters. i dont have to use alll of this stuff or maybe not even any of it except the head unit, im look to spend around 9000-12000 on the car and maybe put another grand into the stereo if i dont use what i have now but what i have is basically all brand new, thanx for any input that you may have.

you can fit 2 15"s there, but it will be alot louder then the grand prix. Decks can be a bit of a hassle, stay away from the infiity systems in them. You have to take the console out to get the deck out, not a big deal but a little more work.

If I remember cussing at them for one thing it was that there were no good place to run the pwr wire.. Too much stuff under the hood....

Agreed, Eclipse makes a great SQL sub and since you have the amping power to run them, should be louder that the Comp Vr's you have now, in a smaller enclosure too. (sealed or ported)

Comp VR subs are moderately low efficiency and require a larger than usual box to get best bass results. More an SPL sub than SQ as well.

The main issue here, is power amps and current draw. If you drop to one amp, that's ~300 RMS to each sub. Now, you have 600 RMS to each sub with dual amps. If the Eclipse subs are at least +3 dB more efficient, that will give you the same SPL that you have now, with less power. Porting will net +3-4 more dB as well.

Finally, the Kicker will do a 2 ohm load well. That's a single DVC (4+4) in parallel. If you drop to 1 amp, need a pair if 4 ohm SVC's or 2+2 DVC's here. If you don't like it, and elect to go back to using 2 amps, you're going backawards as each sub will have to be wired 4 ohms. That's 300 RMS per sub... not 600 as before.

Eclipse also has some serious HUs out, 3v, 5v, and 8v preout on the top selling models we carry. The top two have fully adjustable parametric eqs with Q factor adjustments, variable crossover slopes, and tons of other features.
One note on the subs, the '04 models just came in where we are about a month ago, so the 03 models are probably on clearance.
They are sweet subs!

after further review, I have come to the conclusion that I am not sure, but I think he was referring to a mistubishi eclipse, and not a fujitsu ten eclipse. can we get some closure on this compvr15?

Think we covered all the basses (bases) here anyway?

sorry for the confusion, i was talkin about the car, not the stereo manufacture, since the 15s will fit i will probably stick with them for now, im sure ill get outta the bass stage sonner or later, then i will drop to a set of good sq subs. im gonna check into this one sometime this week, not sure what model the car is but it has some work done to it, the add says its puttin out 300 horse power. seems high for a 4banger but im sure its possible, it may already have a system in it.. will hopefully be puttin down the 5000 down payment soon. thanx for the help guys

I don't think I would buy a ricer that was has been worked on... It is so rare that they are in any kind of descent shape as it is always some kid with his buddy working on it in the driveway, and of course they are always baby'd....

Ya i would definatly make sure any mods this car had in the past looked proffesional. i have seen some friends of mine do some MODs to the engines from Heads to turbos and i just stood there shaking my head as they jimmy riged it to high hell. usualy are tell tell signs of it though spliced wires that are just electrical taped, and turbos with PVC for tubing are things i see my friends doing all to often. usualy ends up looking good but the quality is quite lacking. also alot of people leave reciepts for any pro work done with the car for better resale might see if they have any of these.
