This may sound like a dumb question but how can you tell if your sub is distorting? When I am setting my gain and boost setting on my amp I can't 100% tell if my sub is clipping or just hitting a bass note really hard. Any advice would be helpful thanks, Murph P.S. Oh yah I guess I should tell you what equipment I am running. 12" Alpine Type S in a sealed box, Rockford Fosgate 201s (275w RMS) Replies (3) compvr15s on 03/8/2004 09:29:19 while settin your gains listen closely to the sub once it starts to distort you will hear like a hollow thumping noise, the noise will be from inside the box so its kinda hard to tell, you will also hear noises if the sub it tryin to exceed its xmax, its hard to discribe but when listening you will know its distorting, it will sound like a really bad bass note, hope i helped you a lil, good luck ttocs on 03/8/2004 11:00:14 clipping sounds like you are bouncing a nickel off of the cone...
