Hey, I just wanted to get your guys opinion on which sub would be the better one. 12" Alpine Type-S SWS-1241 12" Kicker Comp VR 03CVR124 I would be running a Rockford Fosgate 201s amp (600w MAX, 275w RMS) The amp only rated at 200w rms however the test sheet that came with the box stated it at 275rms. I already own the Alpine but I just bought it and I now found a really good sale on the Kicker Comp VR. Only $144 Canadian. Wereas I paid $169 for the Type S on sale. So I was wondering if it would be worth while returning the Alpine and going with the Kicker. Thanks in advance for the help, Murph Replies (4) asplundher on 03/5/2004 10:08:12 That's kinda hard to say. The Kicker handles more power and costs less, but the Alpine better matches the amp on power, is more efficient, and can take a slighlty smaller box. Yet, Rockford amps are underrated and should have no problem pushing either. If it was me, I think I would get the Kicker. swez on 03/5/2004 13:49:24 If you only want more SPL and don't care about SQ, a different sub can help. As noted, the Alpine is more efficient and good SQ/SPL. It can take the clean amp power noted on that amp, but how you set up your system matters alot too. Read this first and go through the steps: http://www.clubknowledge.com/Car_Audio_FAQ/?t3 If that does not help, more detail is needed about your vehicle, box dimensions and location/direction of the sub. Facing the sub to rear bumper can make a big difference. Swez ttocs on 03/7/2004 10:57:24 how come everything kicker makes is "kicker comp"????? swez on 03/7/2004 18:06:23 Maybe they just got stuck on names and Comp was all they came up with? When you pound the crap outta your brain all day with Solo's and 1000 watt amps... makes the brain look more like jello or scrambled eggs.
