Hey there, i was wondring if someone could help me, i have gone an got a new stereo (JVC KD-LX555R) but i have tested the wires i my Clio and i don't have a perminant +12v (Memory) wire...i have the one that turns on with the car but i have to reprogram all the time. Can i run a direct wire from the + on the battery? or is it done another way? With Many Thanx, Kyle Replies (3) compvr15s on 03/3/2004 07:42:53 if your car has a cigarette lighter you can tap into that, that wire should supply enough power to keep the memory current, or you can run a wire from an empty slot in the fuse box. you could also run a wire from the batt but these other options will probably be alot easier and save alot of time. and work just as well. may want more input on the lighter wire, i know the lighter works all the time but i dunno if it will supply the power for both itself and the HU... good luck swez on 03/3/2004 08:44:50 Check your cigarette lighter to see if it will work with the key off. If yes, you can tap into that line. If not, will have to find an always "live" 12 volt supply from your fuse panel. Worst case, go to the battery Pos lead. Just be sure to fuse the line to protect that circuit with a 3A. inline fuse.
