Yea on a 1996 oldsmobile cutlass I want to replace the back speakers with a new pair of 6x9's but there are four wire going to each speaker. I was wondering what the wires are for and how to go by installing the new speakers.

im not too sure what the 4 wires are for, unles there is maybe a built in crossover for tweets or sumtin along them lines, do you have an aftermarket head unit or do you have stock, if you have an aftermarket, you can just run new wires for each speaker. other than that you will have to wait for sombody else to respond. good luck

Can you pull one of the x9's and inspect the wiring connections and cone configuration? There may be a coaxial speaker in here an the extra wires are for the tweet/midrange ???
