I already have an Alpine CDA 7892 but it's been through quite a bit of abuse in the last 2 years or so when I didn't take good care of my equipment. It skips a lot while going over some pretty small bumps, and when I change discs (especially from a normal CD to a burnt one) I get an error and have to go to the radio and back to the CD over and over anywhere from once to about 20 times to get the CD to play. I also seem to get different results form my MX button (simmilar to a "loud" button) even with everything else the same. Some times it makes the music sound good, others it sounds a little quieter. I love Alpine HUs, but I'm confused on what to get. I was thinking about the Alpine CDA-9807, but I'm also open to other quality brands. What I'm looking for is VERY good sound quality, 3 sets of 4v preamp outputs, cdr/rw capabilities and MP3 is definitely a plus. I don't realy need as many options that the Alpines give (with center freq, bandwidth, time corr....), but having them doesn't hurt. Does the RMS output of a HU have much of an effect on sound? For example, is there a noticeable difference between 18Wrms and 24Wrms within the same brands, when you have an amp anyway? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! HAPPY Replies (2) uochronos on 02/25/2004 19:25:00 i always suggest pioneer premier HU's i have one and i love it i mine is 2 years odl so i'm not up to date one newest models though. also i would think between like 18watts and 24watts you would notice the change... swez on 02/25/2004 19:36:30 Alpine or Pioneer are very good options. The 18 vs 24 watts will be "barely" noticable if you use the HU amps and not a factor at all, if you run RCA's and an outboard amp. Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
