The Optimus amp I have spoken about.

I have finally gotten around to checking the model number on that amp. I had to clean the car out tonight cause my sister turns 16 thursday and I am giving it to her. It is an Optimus XL-260. To save all the time here is the info page.

Now exactly how much do you think I was clipping those 350w RMS Sonys? GRIN

I didn't care cause they were pieces, but they didn't blow before I quit running it so...

Also I see plans on getting a different car in a few months so I am not going to install my new sub in my truck, just this old stuff and my cdts so that I will have some normal speakers, all the stock ones are either out of commision or rattling. It will be nice when I get them hooked up.

Also, I have been having major problems with my computer lately and I think the hard drive is about to go, which explains my being absent for awhile.

wow i would say you where clipping them pretty bad but then again sonys tend to take a beating well they just dont sound great. i had a sony rated at 200watts that i was putting 600rms into for 5 months with the gain turned almost to 3/4 of max and it never blew just didnt sound good.
i dont know i have ever seen an amp with 10%THD that seems insane... i would think that alone would be hard on any speaker

This amp would be usful for powering just your CDT's full range. Depends on what series you have. The 130 watts per channel when bridged is a pretty good amount of power and at lower output levels, it will be pretty clean.

I like the parts list on that site. That way you can repair your own amp if something goes south.

As for a sub amp... depends on the sub(s) you choose. Say more on that subject and please... don't get Sony subs again... too much $$$ for such a low performance sub.

Oh I know that. This amp was compliments of a cousin that worked at Radio Shack so... I just figured I would share the information of how low quality my install was hehe.I am actually thinking about now, selling the Audiobahn 15" I got and the Audiobahn amp I got to push it and finding something with less power that will sound great. I am in the process of trying to find a better, more reliable car since my sis is driving the Firebird now. What should I look for in a better sub than the audiobahn?

Depends on you sound goals here. Sound like you want to downsize the sub system, but are you looking for high SPL, grat SQ or a blend of the two?

The key will be the enclosure space you have in your next ride. If you know what that will be, then taking some careful measurements will be the key. Then, getting a sub system to fit and sound like you want can be addressed.

Bahn is mostly an SPL driven brand. They have a few high definition sub models, but there are many others that do that job better than Bahn. What size amp are you thinking here?
