How do you go about building a sub box out of fiberglass? I read the FAQ but i was confused... Do you build the whole thing out of the FG or just the back of the box, or what? Any help would be appreciated... Replies (2) ttocs on 02/20/2004 09:05:16 you could do either way. You only need fiberglass when you need a shape.. generally you only need one side, maybe two to be fiberglas. It is easier to build a frame from mdf and fiberglass to that. swez on 02/21/2004 09:47:53 Odd shapes are where f/g applications shine. Only need ~3/8" thickness of f/g to do the job. The key is a solid framing structure that fits the space you are working with. The job is messy, several hours of cure time are needed between each coating of cloth, resin & hardner. The f/g can be shaped easily when "green". But once the cure process is complete, sanding and bond fill are your options for shaping. Before you commit to a full blown sub project, it might be a good idea to do a small "practice" enclosure to get a feel for how this process works.
