I had a Phoenix Gold Xmax10 in a sealed box Boss Riot REV-435brbut the subwoofer blew up. My guess would be the AMP is just not powerful enough for anything. brbrbrbrbrbr I plan to save up and buy a JBL 1200.1 AMP and some subs to go with it but I haven't decided what subs. I need some really high quality subs to take this amp on because I know it's a HUGE amplifier. brbrI am going to get a job soon to put it all togather. I don't know what to do with this BOSS amplifier. I got it when I didn't know anything about systems. So now I have a blown sub, cheap amp, and a broken cd deck which I paid 200 bucks for. brbrbrbrbrbrbrbrSo this time Im going to get nice items so I WILL NEVER have to worry about upgrading or buying new subs ect.!!!!!! have $200 dollars saved up right now but I plan to spend around $500 on a new system for AMP, SUBS, and BOX. So I figure I can get a pretty decent setup for this much. brbrbrbrbrbrJBL 1200.1 (looked at a 11 month old one going for 200 on ebay)brbrTwo 12' SubZone or Raptor dual sealed boxbrbr$500 dollar spending range. brbr25%/75% SQL is the IDEAL system.brbrCan I get some subwoofer suggestions?

I used to work at a shop the sold PG. We had an old x-max that had been in the board and already hammered on for a while. We decided to blow it and warrenty it one night when it was slow and we were bored. We hooked up the PG 600.2 ti and cranked it up. Played the thing for almost an hour before we gave up.... the room smelled, and the sub was hot, but it never blew......

Your amp blew the sub, probably because there was no crossover..... I would consider moving that amp to a different set of speakers, and get a new amp/sub combo if money allowes. another option is to get a cross over and sub....

Agreed... the amp probably blew the sub due to excess clipping of the amp.

A quality sub will usually take 120-135% of clean RMS power in the proper enclosure. However, if you use a modest amp and clip it frequently, can blow a sub that is rated much higher than the amp can put out due to signal clipping and voltage spikes. The sub cannot cool properly when amp is clipping so much. That is what blows most good subs when using modest powered amps.

I am thinking about buying two PG Ti15D 500watts RMS each.

these things are going crazy cheap on ebay it suprised me but I loved my Xmax10! No one would believe me when I said I only had a 10!

(1) JBL 1200.1 $200
(2) PG Ti15D $215 (basically the price of 1 for 2!)

total 415 dollars + box $85

total estimate $500

sound good to you guys?
