Problem…Pioneer AVH 7500 DVD…new install. Trying to by pass the emergency brake lead to view DVD’s while the vehicle is running. I tied it to the “yellow” always-hot lead but that didn’t seem to work. Anyone have any knowledge about this? Thanks a bunch Replies (6) ttocs on 02/15/2004 22:02:09 you will need to read the instructions. I am not familiar with the pioneer, I know alpine has a foot and parking brake wires. The footbrake will be +12v for sure, but I think the parking brake would go to ground. You may need to do a sequence of on-off-on er something... Spyster on 02/15/2004 22:18:21 The instructions say to connect the green lead to the positive side of the parking brake, so I figured it was a 12v hot lead, and simply used as a power switch to allow the head unit to play the TV or DVD video... ttocs on 02/15/2004 23:06:24 it doesn't pwr it, it just allowes the video to be turned on. it tells the deck your car is parked so that it is not a destraction from driving. You do just hook it up, but you may need to toggle it on and off a couple of times. Check the manual and there should be a section labeled video enable er something. you will probably need a switch inline for easy on and off... Spyster on 02/16/2004 09:45:30 Makes sense....does anyone have experience with this? I would hate to fry a $1500 system...YIKES!!! Thanks again...waiting with wire harness in hand... ttocs on 02/16/2004 10:40:55 you don't have the manual? If you don't you can probably download it from their site... Spyster on 02/16/2004 15:18:04 ttocs... Thanks for the help…I tossed $20 to the guy at my local Audio FX shop. The green wire simply reads ground once the parking brake is pressed. So to by-pass to video lock while driving just ground the brake lead. Once the green lead has been grounded the video plays. The owner’s manual does NOT mention anything about bypassing this factory block for obvious reasons. So the system is now up completely installed and sounds and plays fantastic.
