Vehicle's running voltage

My truck has a battery voltmeter in the dash and the needle goes just past 14V when the truck is running and never goes below that (as long as it's running).

Does this mean that if I get an amp that's "x"watts at 14V, that's what I'll get?

I always thought the average running voltage of a vehicle was around 13-13.5?

(sorry about the double post but when I edit I get "brbr" between every new paragraph)

matters what vehicle some run at higher voltages then other stock. and yes you well get what ever your voltage running into the amp is times what ever amps are being pulled by the amp. the more voltage you have the more watts you are going to put out. the hard part is keeping it at a constant 14volts after you haev amps hooked up your alternator has to be able to keep it there even with the draw.

if the amp uses a un-regulated pwr supply you will get more pwr at a higher voltage. 13.5-14.5v is common.
