I have a '98 extended cab gmc sierra and i dont know a lot about how to install my subwoofers and amp. Im planning on using my factory stereo. Where do I hook the wires to my stereo and whats the best way to run the wires. Thnx for the help Replies (2) cplkittle on 02/13/2004 15:19:57 The easiest way to do it is to go into your amplifier from the rear channel speaker wires. You can still run the rear speakers, just jump off of them and go into the amplifier. You will need to determine how many amps your amplifier uses (add up the fuse ratings on the amplifier) and use the proper size wire ( http://www.clubknowledge.com/Car_Audio_FAQ/?t1) Using the same size wire, you will need to ground your amplifier with a good metal to metal connection (seatbelt bolts, chassis bolts, etc). From the back of your radio, you should have a remote or power antenna wire. This is a low amp wire that will trigger the power relay inside the amplifier, telling it to turn on. Connect this to the remote connection on the amplifier (a small wire will work here -16-14gauge). Now you have the power, ground, remote and speaker input connections complete, let's talk about the sub out hookups. For this we need to know what kind of subs you have and what kind of amplifier you have to determine ohm possibilities to get the most power from your amplifier. Please let us know the brand and model number for each, or the specs on both (subs- DVC or SVC, at what ohms? ; amplifier - how many channels, bridgeable? 2ohm stable? 1 ohm stable? ohms on stereo and mono connections) as well as the RMS for both the speakers and the amplifier. We will look up the specs for you if you just give us the brand/model numbers. as well as suggestions for a custom enclosure if you wish to build your own. ttocs on 02/13/2004 16:30:19 http://www.clubknowledge.com/Car_Audio_FAQ/?t13 Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
