HELP! I have tried to install a sony cd into my 95 geo prism , using the universal wiring harnesses bought from circuit city. I had them wired backward originally and the cd player started smoking pretty severely. The car still smells bad. That cd player doesn't work anymore. I fixed the connections and tried a different one, and the cd player turns on and looks like it's working but no sound.
What next? Is it the speakers, the wiring? I don't know where to turn.

The universal connector portions of both harnesses was connected backwards...it still fit in so I didn't realize until it was too late that it was not lined up properly....

if you let the magik smoke out, it will not work anymore...
