99 intrepid sub install

Anyone happen to have some experience with this particular auto? Any known anomalies, transfer functions, etc. will help me on a upcoming install. Right now I'm looking at installing one to two 10"s. Not sure if I'm going to do ported or sealed at this point. If ported, it will be one (space reasons); sealed either way. If one, I will be able to power it substantially more than two for they are 4ohm and the amp is only 4ohm mono. The music that will be listened to will range from blues, r&b, and some southern hip hop. I know ported will be best suited but, porting through the rear deck is not a option.

For those who are interested; I went ahead on the install. I went with one Dayton 10" in about .63cf sealed (Qtc is around .85). I tried various places in the trunk before finally deciding that the best sounding was a small pocket in the passenger side rear quarter panel in the trunk facing the adjacent quarter panel. It looks like as if the space was made for it. Not only did that take full advantage of the box small size (13.5"x13.5"x9"-external) and trunk space but, it also allowed the bass to be maximized better than any other spot. Originally a USB 2080 was to run it, but the one I recieved from Crutchfield had a internal short and had to be sent back. In the mean time, the USB 4065 that I planned to use in another vehicle is running the front doors and the 10". I must say that I'm impressed even though it runs out of power at high volumes on the sub. Yet, it still reaches a good SPL with impressive frequency response. The bass is punchy with some slightly enhanced low end and yet still detailed. I'm very proud of the job and my fiance is too. She still has all her space! The only thing I'm thinking about changing is getting my 4065 back into the nissan and going with the original amplifier setup. It sounded a lot better with the 2080 on the sub. Other than that I would'nt change a thing.

you don't need much in a hatch. a single 10 will do just fine. I was going to say that the only weird thing that could possibly be in that car is that sometimes the pwr antenna's are a neg trigger, rather then a pos trigger.

You did the right thing by playing with it to see what you like best. Is the box mounted?

Sorry if I have confused you. This install is in a intrepid. The enclosure is fastened to the trunk floor. The one 10" is what is impressive because I was'nt sure if it was going to be enough. Being a good sized sedan and all, I believe the one thing that helped is that is a very quiet riding car.
