Prev :: Next I was planning on wiring my subs and amp with option # 1 of SVC subs on: http://www.crutchfieldadvisor.com/S-LK5Qju5Dn5k/learningcenter/car/subwoofers_wiring.html?subs=2&impedance=SVC4 My amp does 300w into 2 ohms and my subs, same as diagram on the page I gave you, are 4 ohm. I found in small print in my amp booklet: "The dual + and - subout terminals of the d300.1 are paralled internally and the combined load impedance should be taken into consideration when connecting mulpitple subs." Does this change anything? Or does this quote have to do with 2 subs wired in series? Replies (5) Munchiesyumm on 02/2/2004 20:08:44 You have a VIPER D300.1 MONO AMP Dynamic Power Rating: 350 watts S/N: > 80 dB Freq. Range: 20-250Hz Damping Factor: > 50 Input Sens.: 150mV to 8V Rated Power @ 4 ohm: 200 x 1 Rated Power @ 2 ohm: 300 x 1 What are the Brand/Model # of your subwoofers? fitz1465 on 02/2/2004 21:15:57 if you have a mono amp that is paralleled internally such as an MTX or Crossfire then you are basically just given easier hook up ideas but it can be confusing the first time you see it because you are thinking MONO, MONO, there's only ONE channel, right??? yes the amp only has one channel..........so if you want to connect two 4ohm subs for a 2 ohm load just plug them in like you would a stereo amp.......one 4ohm sub to one set up outputs and the other 4ohm sub to the other set of outputs and the amp will parallel them to give a two ohm load DP on 02/3/2004 01:15:44 Yes I have that viper amp and my 2 subs are JL 10wQ-4. The thing is that I only have one terminal cup on the box. So I would only run one set of wires from the outputs. fitz1465 on 02/3/2004 01:59:29 just run the single set of wires to one +/- terminal of the amp. as long as you wired the subs in the box for 2 ohm load then the amp will give them the 2 ohm power it produces....it just looks wierd not using the other set of terminals on the amp....again these are just here for other wiring variations DP on 02/3/2004 22:37:32 ya it is pretty weird only using one set of terminals. now I know that what I was looking at was right thanx Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
