ok when i first got my jetta i was a rookie at car stero thinking i can snip and stip any wire and it will work out. how quickly i was wrong. i cut off the factory speaker and tape player harness which made things so much harder. is it possible for me to somehow get another one. if so please tell me where?

i think youll have to hardwire a new one on. just use a voltmeter to find the bat, acc, and ground. the rest will be speakers, possibly with a power antenna or illum wire as well....good luck ;)

rule number one for beginner.....never, ever, ever, ever cut off a factory harness or into unless absolutely necessary....you make the job ten times more difficult to near impossible for yourself and a pain for the expert sitting and figuring out the wires.....
go to a METRA carrier say either autozone or other auto parts store and order an OEM harness for the car and an aftermarket harness to go into the OEM harness so you can easily connect any aftermarket radio
