Hey...if anyone could help me out w/ this i'd appreciate it. I have a Pioneer Premier P-840MP head unit. The unit has been working fine for the past year and a half....but recently it has been cutting off for about a second every once in a while....and then just recently about a week after i changed my car battery, the head unit doesn't turn on with the ignition. I checked my fuses and everything is fine....any ideas on what could be wrong? Replies (5) uochronos on 02/1/2004 17:26:40 first alot of times there are 2 sets of fuses usualy one under dash adn one under hood check both. also if you ahve an inline fuse behyind the reciver check that also check the fuse thats in the back of the reciever. if all of that checks out then make sure that you are getting power to the wires using a volt meter if you dont have one you can pick one up just about any car shop, radio shack, or even walmart. if you are getting 12volt or more when car is on then you should be good. if it isnt any of that then i would think it was the deck itself. someone else here might also have somre more insight cplkittle on 02/2/2004 08:51:40 try checking the ground also. Most problems usually end up being the ground. jpoconnor on 02/2/2004 17:00:31 Ok....checked the rest of the fuses....I am having trouble finding where the negative wire is being grounded....i pulled the dash apart and all of the wires are bundled together by electrical tape, so I can't track where the wire is running to....where are the most typical places that a head unit would be grounded? thanks - john Munchiesyumm on 02/2/2004 20:11:22 You could always run your own ground to see if that is the problem, it's guess and check here... fitz1465 on 02/2/2004 21:07:15 you can easily check to see if the head unit works by taking it out and touching the power and ground wires directly to the car battery itself.........if it comes on then you know it's one or the other that is not hooked up right especially if you check to see if it is recieving the 12v it needs to run then you know it's the ground that is not hooked properly......
