Help with a few more things

HAPPY hey, I just sold my mono sub amp and two Sony 10" subs, and just bought one Infinity Kappa Perfect 10.1 10" (so far). I plan on getting another one soon and hooking them up to the jbl 600.1 amp.

I compared the infinity kappa subs to the Alpine SWR-1041D subs that I was going to get, and I had to choose the infinities.

Anyway, my question is, what 6 1/2" speakers would be a good combination with this system?

Right now I have 2 sony 5 1/2" that are approx. 1.5yrs old (50wrms) hooked up to a 4 channel sony amp that puts 75wrms to each channel (only using 2 ch.).

They can get fairly loud, but it gets a little anoying and "tingy" (if that's a word). What I mean is that it seems like the highs are too high and hurt my ears, yet I've listened to louder music that didn't hurt my ears and had great highs.

I don't want my bass drownding out the other speakers, but I still want good, clean, hard hitting bass.

Overall I would want a very good sounding system, but don't plan on competing.

Any suggestions on 6 1/2" speakers/amp combo?

(I can also bridge my 4 ch. amp to 2 ch.s if needed for higher wattage speakers, but it is a Sony amp so maybe I should just get another one?)

BTW, I currently don't have any speakers in the back of my truck because I didn't think I need them (for rear fill) in a dodge dakota club cab. Is this a good idea?

If I were you I would first of all get everything set up and listen to it than if you really feel the sony 5 1/2s are really degrading the system than look into changing them. But always look on the bright side, they work!

For 6 1/2 speakers I would check out www.thezeb.com
under CDT Audio (full range speakers)

They are offering CL-6X 6.5 2way speakers for $44.99 a pair
- 6" Midrange.
- 2.25" Mounting depth.
- 6 dB Crossover....
- 0.75" Angle mount .75" metal dome Tweeter.
- Tweeter for perfect imaging.
- 80 watt Power handling.
- 60Hz-20kHz Frequency Response.
- 92 dB Sensitivity.
- 4 OhmImpedance.

Hook everything up before you decide on if you need new speakers or not! You never know it might sound pretty good?! You only need the interior speakers for Trebble

Adjusting the Trebble & Bass on the HU may also make your speakers sound better.

good luck!

Well, I would want good quality speakers and I plan on crossing them over at around 60-80hz, so I'm looking for a lot more than just trebble.

I want realy good quality mids and highs.

Thanks for the reply.

How come not let the 10s handle those low frequencies? I still agree that you need somethign rather than the sonys but just questioning.

most component 6 1/2" speakers have a frequency response of around as low as 45-55hz. I cross them over at around 80hz and let the subs handle everything below 80hz.

My subs freq response are from 18-200hz, so even if I cross them over at 120hz, I still would like clean good quality sound from my mids.

When I think of trebble I think of frequencey ranges of a lot higher than 200hz.

I think most would consider treble anything above pounding bass... Maybe not politically correct but I would say anything over 200 would be a good start.

of your looking for components i would suggest the CDT's also i have a pair of HD-62CF and they do great i have my subs going to 80hz and my mids pick up at 80hz. and sounds great. they are some of the cleanest sounding speakers i have ever heard they dont get that tingy sound at all. i can turn them up to 90% volume before they start noticbly getting distortion... and as for amp i would suggest the avionixx 800.4 class t amp its 125watts per chanel and at only 285$ its a still. its a digital amp which means its got very good sound quality and integrity. if 125watts is too much for your application they have a 75watts rms amp also.
