Hello again,

My life was once full of Sonys FROWN . But as time goes by, i have found the light that emerged me from the Brand that halted my journey of SQL.

To cut the story short , i was planning to replace my sony xplod 1600watts with -
Either Kicker CVR or Alpine typ-R dual coil

Suggestions would be helpful , SMILE

I think you should go with kicker comp vr they are pretty good subs they replaced the old kicker round solobaric subs. for a 12" comp vr i think dealer cost is $75 or $100 each i don't remember.
Also i don't think that sony makes anything that is 1600 watts remember when looking at subs or amp always l@@k at the rms rating because that's the rating that really counts not the peak power . because rms power is what the amp or sub can run at all day without problems.

A little more information would help to get you on your way!

So far we know you want a SQL system.

What type/size enclosure do you have?
What amplifier do you have model# ?
What is spending range?

Hi riceman and Munchiesyumm !
Thanx for replying

In my country, the CVR is around $250 Brunei dollars. Yeah i've used to listen the old round solobaric subs, a friend of mine bought 2 of it here for $1000 Bru.dollars around 6 years ago. As i recalled, it was my first encounter of Real chest pounding Bumping Bass! WOW !

As Kicker and Rockford were the only Top brand here 6 years ago .. there were extremely expensive, and it made an impression of my elders that i was wasting my money buying worthless expensive junks FROWN ( Heavenly Speakers ). Since then, my journey was at halt.

Anyway, to cut the story short,

Yes, ive made a mistake venturing into sony, i bought it for $140 Bru.Dollars and the Kicker CVR was still $250 .While i was listening to crappy lying not-so 1600watss of bass everyday.I Regret it.

Currently, i'm using a sealed enclosure for my Sony 1600w.
Powered by 600watts 2 channel Prokick amp.
( ok, its underpower and an unknown amp )
Spending range is about $300 Bru.dollars.

I've made lots of regretful mistakes in the past FROWN

Hey here's a link to a site that I found through this website:
http://www.bcae1.com/
This explains a whole lot and made me much more educated about all aspects of car audio. It's a lot to read, but worth every minute.

This might help you to choose the right stuff.

Also, you might be able to buy some very good products thruogh ebay.
I don't know if you would have to convert your money to US or you might find some auctions that take Bru. dollars. A lot of them say that they only ship to US, but there's also many who ship world wide.

I would use the recommended enclosure size for the sub (available online or in the owner's manual). I have written several articles in the DIY section that may be useful as well.
