MAD Nothing is ever easy, but the longer I try to customize a install on my car, the worst it gets. My 2002 Pontiac Bonneville is not aftermarket friendly. I have had to create my own ABS faceplate for two single Din installs into the factory opening, grabbed some aluminum and fabricated my own frame to hold the single dins in place. I found the class 2 wiring off the factory HU, and was bummed metra and AI didn't have a wiring harness. Luckily scosche just put out a gm07 harness. The harness only provides for continuous power, I will have to wire off the ingnition for power on, and tap elsewhere for a remote line. The rest of the harness is practically useless since the factory Hu sends a signal to the factory amp rather than a remote to activate the speakers, so stair step installation is shot for me. It will have to be all or nothing. Sorry for venting, but I have overcome these problems only to find that the speakers in my vehicle are bottom mounts to the door paneling itself. I am concerned this is not stable enough for the CDT components I would like to install. It seems mounting to the door paneling, rather than the frame is just asking for problems. I am wondering if anyone has dealt with similar issues. FROWN Replies (0) Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
