I have a jl audio 500.1 amplifier... I was thinking about getting a 10w7, ($600 w/box @ local dealer) For that $ I know I could get a better sub, but because the amp is 500 W RMS @ 1.5 ohm-4 ohm, I don't know if it will push a 15" brahma... Any subwoofer suggestions would be helpful, money isn't an issue really, but i'd like to keep this amp and get the BEST sub that will match it. THINK Replies (5) uochronos on 01/18/2004 18:37:32 I have heard alot of good things about Elemental Designs from what alot of people have told me there A sereis well keep up with a W7.. infact i have been so impressed by them i'm buying one this summer when i get the money for the sub and amp. swez on 01/19/2004 02:05:31 Agreed, JL subs are very good... but a real wallet buster too. ED makes a very potent sub as is the Brahma and several other high end SQ/SPL subs. The variable regulated power supply used in JL amps are top notch. You get 500 RMS at 1.5 - 4.0 ohm loads. This makes JL one of the best flex amps on the market today. Swez cplkittle on 01/21/2004 09:51:09 The JL amps will also run for extended periods of time at 10.5 volts although it is not recommended. If you are looking to upgrade, I found the JL 1000.1 on ebay for around $500-650, and the 13W7s run about the same price. There are several auctions out there that are for a website where JL audio products are sold for $100 or less, I don't want to pay $10-$20 for information though. they are probably refurbs... Tell you all what.... I will email the seller of this informatin and find out if they are refurbished items right now, and let you know the answer as soon as I get a reply. If they are not, I might just buy this URL from them and post it here for you guys. Relax_The_Mind on 01/21/2004 09:52:30 Those ED sub looks mighty beefy and would most likely be a better match for that amp. Say.. the 12A? I would think the brahma would want a lil more power. Ive always liked JL gear since way back in the day. Price has stayed the same but more than worth it in lots of peoples eyes. But my bank account still disagrees....hehe RTM PS. Orion still making custom amps? Guy with the converted truck called "ear candy" had custom Orion amps that dropped down to ¼-ohm. ;-) he had like 200 Polk 10s (dont know what series) snipe523 on 01/22/2004 05:52:36 I wouldn't suggest running a brahma with 500W. That thing would be begging for more power. Like mentioned above the Elemental Designs A series would be a better choice for that power. Though the A series would still want some more power it would still work well off the 500W. I have my A series on 800W and the sub is absolutely amazing....... especially for the money Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
