Hi there. I'm trying to install a new deck into my old 83 Golf. Unfortunately everything is completely different than the deck's wiring. There are 2 wires that say "VR+ and VL-" and then there is "HR" with a little sun under it and "HL" with a little stick antenna picture under it. Could someone please help me find out which of these are my power and/or ground wires and what I should do to hook them up to my new deck?

So I take it that theres no harness coming from the car that was plugged into the factory deck.

there should be an aftermarket hrn available for your car, check your local shop.

Otherwise I do not really understand the notation for those wires. The one with the sun probably has to do with the dimmer. Do you have a pwr ant? That is what I am guessing the wire with the ant pic.

If you want to find out what the wires are, you need a voltmeter or testlight, and a small batter. Check for all the wires for voltage with the testlight or meter. Check each of them with the key off, key on, and then lights on and off. Take whatever wires do not have voltage on them, and touch the battery with one end on one, and one end on the other. If you have the speaker that corrosponds to the two wires touching the battery the speaker will make a popping noise.
