Hey, what does everyone think is the best vehicle to put a system into, both for sound quality and for SPL? I'm talking about if you had the same set up in different vehicles which would sound the best. I know this could be difficult to answer since some setups are designed for certain types of vehicles. I would think it'd be a large boxy vehicle like a van maybe. Any thoughts? Replies (6) ttocs on 01/13/2004 15:33:46 any kind of hatchback...... ANY........... erikcooper on 01/13/2004 16:44:59 Any? There are some big ranges. My car is a hatchback but the acoustics on it are way different than a Civic hatchback. Civic is almost a vertical hatch while min eis almost horizontal. uochronos on 01/13/2004 21:14:22 my friend had a golf hatch back and i had a GT Probe hatch back both where way differnt but not worked really well for sub set ups lots of free air room... but yet not too big either... i would think with like a van you would need alot more power and subs to get the same sound as a gold or civic hatch back. compvr15s on 01/14/2004 12:07:28 i think the 91-93 models of mustang gts sound awesome, nice small compact car with a hatchback. have heard many nice systems from mustangs erikcooper on 01/14/2004 12:12:02 My car is nice and small and compact...but that leads to havig no places to fit things. I will be giving my sister my car at the end of February otherwise I would take the back seat out. cplkittle on 01/14/2004 14:22:08 In my opinion it would be a hatchback or small suv. since the acoustical values of speakers, enclosures, placement, etc.. can give you endless possibilities - we match the speaker, enclosure, and placement to the vehicle. I know this is proably too much information, but starting with the speaker, decide what enclosure would be best for it. This is the equation which is used to determine what would be best: EBP = Fs / Qes 50 or less = best used in a sealed enclosure. 50 - 90 = flexible enclosure options. 90 or greater = best used in ported enclosure. The 50 or less also includes 4th order bandpass boxes and the 90 or greater also includes 6th order bandpass boxes. Bandpass boxes are mostly used in open area vehicles (SUV, van) Dynamat will also improve the sound in your vehicle. Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
