Which Subs?!!

I know what I want. That is not the problem here it's the money restrictions. I really am into clean, tight bass that is all I ever wanted and my old system is getting very annoying I have a interested person who wants the system for $200 dollars so I will gladly sell it. I am selling my graphics card for $95 dollars but I don't have the money YET.

I am pre planning my system to make sure I get what I need.

I want/need an upgrade. I mean I know it is not much to work with. But it can be done.

My old system was a Xtreme Sound HU with 1 preouts @ 1.0v, cd player, and radio, with 60watts max 8 watts RMS per channel x 4 speakers. I have a BOSS Riot amplifer rated at 250 watts Bridged. With a Phoenix Gold Xmax10 450watt RMS in a sealed box. Of course a walmart 1000watt wiring kit

it works and it was worth the 200 bucks I got it for but it's time to move on!

I am having some troubles deciding thats all. I come you you guys in seek of help!

The amplifer I was shooting for would be the JBL600.1 $ 189
Output 4 Ohms: 300W x 1
Output 2 Ohms: 600W x 1
Signal-to-Noise (dBA): >100
Frequency Response (±3dB): 20Hz - 500Hz
Total Harmonic Distortion: 0.1%
Input Sensitivity: 250mV - 4V

that would leave me with $100 dollars after the amp. I don't mind waiting more to save up but this is the problem I am having. What sub?!

I wanted the Alpine Type R 15 but I cannot get that for less than 230 with shipping. Plus the boxes are very exspensive.

My goal would be to achieve a sub with the highest sound quality possible for the limited price range.

I have found a lot of subwoofers on closeout sales. I would love to hear anyone's oponions.

ALUM10X 10" Subwoofer w/ dual 6ohm voice coils - 800 watts RMS $89.99

AW1200X 12" Subwoofer w/ dual 4ohm voice coils - 700 watts RMS

12" FOSGATE Punch HE2 Dual 4ohm Subwoofer - 400 watts RMS / 800 watt PEAK More Information $249.99 now $89.99!

10" Cerwin Vega Subwoofer w/ 4ohm voice coil - 300 watts RMS More Information $189.99 now $89.99!

Orion XTR12S 12in Subwoofer $100.00
Power Handling: 250-500 watts RMS

Phoenix Gold Ti12 12" Titanium Subwoofer $100.00
500 Watt continuous power handling

I love getting stuff from www.thezeb.com because no tax and free shipping which makes things easier!

IF anyone can give options I would love to hear.

Two 10's in sealed box would be great but I am not stuck on any certain size, just what ever will work

have you checked out infinity? subs yet. you can get a 12 inch infinity kappa perfect for 133 plus shipping, i have heard nothing but good things about this sub, high sq application here. i have not personally heard them but i put all my trust in these guys here, and have seen many people pushin people in that direction. the ones you have listed seem like really good deals two, have you though about maybe gettin 2 10s instead of 1 12 or 1 15. i cant not put my 2cents in on products because i dont have much experience with those mentioned. good luck

I was going to suggest the Audiobahn Flame Q. The most high quality SQ sub they have, but the 10" is only down to around $150, and that is on justaudiobahn.com It looks real nice and holds 900 watts RMS, but it can't run in 1 Ohm I don't think, someone else would have to check it out.

This is at the zeb:

AW150Q - 15" Subwoofer w/ 4ohm voice coil - 600 watts RMS - $74.99

This could be worth a look to, also at the zeb:

AW1051T - 10" Subwoofer w/ dual 4ohm voice coils - 300 watts RMS - $79.99 (would hook up perfectly at the 300 x 1 @ 2ohms)

This last one is $59.00 at justaudiobahn.com

out of all those subs you listed i had only heard the phoenix gold one before my friend just got a set of though they are very clean bass little distrotion but they arent a SQ dream either. they definatly keep up with the type R's though.. i have heard alot of good things here about the elemental designs speakers too LINK:http://www.edesignsaudio.com"elemental designs"
just from what people here have said about them and there specs i'm getting a 12 or 15 inch A series from them this summer. for the price you cant beat them,.. they also have 2 other sereies of speakers more in your price range... also the infinity kappa perfects are very nice subs my friend had 2 12's and they sounds very nice... he got rid of them he was a pure "spl" guy but for that price range its hard to find better sq.... LINK:http://ask2.pricegrabber.com/search_gen.php?form_keyword=infinity%20kappa&topcat_id=2&found=2&ut=0ce083f7044b838e"some very good kappa prices"

Thanks Erik I will check that out the only problem I have with Audio Bahn is the RMS ratings that come with them. Amps.. Although they are very affordable compared to others. Just where do I get an amp that supports 800watt rms sub u know SMILE

Swez/golds would you be so kind to add your oponion?

You all are very good with matching subs and amps up. What do you think of the subs I listed? Which do you think would perform best with JBL 600.1 or what other subs would make a better fit?

I will look more into the Infinity's but for that price I might as well get two Alpine Type R 10s.

thanks

well.. I think I can just handle no stereo until I get one thats worthy. I've slept over it and if I am getting a stereo I better get what I want so I don't keep having to change out systems.

Swez told me once about 3 months ago. "If it works keep it, if it doesn't work get something you want it's worth the couple extra bucks to get the better quality and not have to upgrade later"

You're right, it's not working for me in this sitation so I will save up and get what I really want. It's always good to sleep over something a couple nights.

I plan to save up for JBL 600.1 Alpine Type R 10s I will look into making my own box also. I have a friend that wants one and he has all the equiptment to make them.'

I'll be asking for a heads up on the boxes later.

thanks//

btw do you think my PG Xmax10 could handle the JBL 600.1 with bass boost off and the gain all the way down? It's in a sealed box and rated 450 watts RMS. This little guy packs a punch for what it is and it's the sturdest sub I ever have had. It's 3 1/2 years old and still sounds new, but it's definatly a SPL sub. This little guy makes my mirrors bounce like the 1970's disco with only 250watts RMS from a boss amp I would be interested what it really could do. I read reviews and everyone says they will be needing hearing AIDS in the very near present.

I would think as long as your careful with the gain you could use a 600watt amp ok... i was running a 350watt rms speaker on my phoenix gold 500watt rms amp i didnt care about the speaker so i cranked the gain to 1/2 -3/4 of the way and it never blew for the 2 months i used it. i did have it in a realativly small box.
