I believe I have mentioned this before but got no sure answers. Does anyone know where I can find out more infromation on building a fiberglass enclosure for my speakers? I am not meaning the entire enclosure, I plan to use mdf for the actual box but I am wanting a cover made of this so it can be rounded and painted and such. I also plan to make a dash/console and door panels. I mainly need information on how to build it. How to frame it and all that in other words.

For a general example of what i mean about the dash/console check this link. You can also see a little of the door panel, which is what I want as well.

I have a friend that does fiberglass body work. Here are some of his suggestions...
you can buy fiberglass resin at walmart, apply it on top of a fiberglass mat for strength, although this may not be necessary in all applications. For finishing, use at least 2 coats to prevent sanding through. sand with a good quality 320grit paper, and clean well. Use a good primer and allow it to dry completely. Sand primer with 600grit paper until slick. When painting, allow paint to dry a few minutes between coats. On the last coat, let it sit a bit longer (10-15minutes) and use twice the amount of thinner with the paint, but you have to move really fast to prevent it from running. What this does is burn the top coat into the previous coat or two and give you a glassy finish. The last coat with more thinner will dry faster and burn out any dampness in the paint. DO NOT TOUCH IT FOR AT LEAST AN HOUR!
Do not use a fan on it unless the area is completely clean of all dust, carpet fibers, dirt and so on.

Thanks for the advice cpl but I know a bit about the fiberglassing part, I think I mainly need to know the behind the scenes stuff, the framing and building the shape and all.

Good link uochronos.

Will check that tomorrow fitz, thanks.
