I just added my sub and amp into my system yesterday and they rock! You guys advised me to get a shiva and JBL 600.1 amp. I put the shiva in a sealed box w/1lb. polyfill. I have yet to fully tune in the amp gain/crossover to my satisfaction, but with just the gain set so it doesen't clip and the crossover set at 320Hz, the bass was very clean and loud. I wanted to say thanks to everyone who answered my questions and let you know that I'm really happy with how my system is turning out. Replies (4) Munchiesyumm on 01/5/2004 19:37:55 How much did that setup end up costing? I would be interested to know! thanks ttocs on 01/5/2004 22:03:03 320 is way too high. For a ten I would cross it over 80-100 hz at the highest, and for a 12 60-75 hz. To tune the sub, set bass and loudness to 0, and put in a cd you are familiar with. Next turn the amp gain all the way down, and the deck volume up till the speakers are starting to distort, but are still clean. Now turn up the gain on the amp until the sub is loud, but still clean. If the bass starts to over power the rest, you should have stopped already. But if you like that, let it rip... swez on 01/5/2004 22:05:39 You may wish to drop your crossover on the LPF (JBL 600.1) to a range between 80-120 Hz. Depending on the quality of interior speakers tyou have now, the 320 Hz cutoff is a bit high and you may like more low bass by adjusting the LPF asn noted. Glad you like the system you have now... Congratulations! Swez CLAP Jebus on 01/7/2004 12:36:26 The costs for my low end broke down like this: JBL 600.1 - $190 Amp kit - $ 43 Sub box - $ 40 Adire Shiva - $125 Polyfil -$ 1 Total - $399 Everything but the Shiva was purchased through ebay, shipping included in my prices. I already used the subwoofer tuming guide from the DIY articles to tune the sub. I will drop the LPF, but probably not as much as you recommend until I get a 4 channel amp for my mids. I am curently looking for this amp, but will start a new post about it. Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
