HELP!!my subs are making unwanted noise

i just istalled some subs into my car they work but when i turn my music down i can hear a humming noise that seems to go up as my rmp's go up. How do i fix this? Also when i turn down my music my subs make this rumble sound i dont know if this is normal but it bugs the hell out of me what is it and can it be fixed?

It could be your RCA cables. If they are not high quality then they could very well be picking up engine noise. It could also be that your power wire and your RCA cables are run down the same side of the vehicle. Check this first. If they are run down the same side of the vehicle then move one of them to the other side. If that doesn't solve it try the RCA cables. I have this same problem and my wires are seperated so I need to get some cables and try it myself.

I have my power and RCA's on diffrent sides so i know its not that i thought that i had good rca cable they are fosgates. I dont know what to do

Try different grounding spots... Short as possible too. Doesnt matter how good a quality your RCAs are if your HU is only putting out 1v signal or less.

Where do you have the gain on the sub amp set now? This gain control should be set to match the output of your HU RCA voltage. This commonly in the 2.0 - 4.0 volts range.

If you have the gain set way up there... (under 1.0 volts) the kinds of noise you mentioned are common. There is an article on this in our DIY section that explains the tweaking process for subs.
